Anzac day
Anzac day was a beautiful Autumn day in Melbourne. We went to the Upwey RSL march and service which is getting a pretty big turnout these days.

Some old MFU for Peter & Lee
Heres a few extracts from recent MFU emails. If you have previously received the emails there is nothing new here.
Michelle & Rachel with the vice principal. We are finding ourselves very happy with the local school. Annemarie is quite involved with assisting in the art classes, reading classes and other things so we get to see a lot of what goes on and where the school is heading. Although the numbers have dropped again slightly (just under 200 pupils) they have just had a major re/construction which brings most of the school buildings up to a good modern standard. Looks like a bit of a fortress from the street though....Architecture!!
Ben was a 'star' in the kinder Christmas play but by the end of the night was over it. That probably sums up his kinder year too. We had deferred him starting kinder in 05 on the advice of the teacher and it was right, he wasn't quite ready. But by the end of this year he was over it and raring to go to school.
The M cousins do a Kris Kringle for Christmas and enjoy sitting in a circle giving gifts to each other. David has just given his gift to Ben with Andrew looking on. Of the 9 cousins Hayley (Ian's) is the eldest at 14 and Jenna is the youngest at 3. They all get on really well and our kids look forward to the regular get togethers at Grandpas. Mums 70th seemed a bit strange though, Steve and Barb were in WA and Ian and Julie were in Darwin so it was relatively quiet.
Ben receiving his birthday wishes from Grandma & Grandpa. He turned 6. The sunnies didn't last too long, he pulled out a lens and sticky taped it to his eye and went around being a pirate. I was on the phone to a client and he opened up my door and went AAAAARRRGGH!!!
We also had a week up at Yarra Junction at the end of the holidays. Even though Melbourne is very dry there had been a good bit of rain on the weekend before we got there so the river was up enough to float down. Weather and water was fine enough for even Annie to go in. No fish though. Had a good view of the comet so the kids were up late for a few nights running.

End of MFU emails?
Well, here we go. A blog.
The M family update started with the humble beginning of sending photos of the kids to Annemarie's brother Dave in WA. We would just send a few photos without descriptions so he could keep track of what the kids looked like. After a while we started adding some descriptive text to give the shots some meaning, and eventually we figured if we are going to go to the effort of writing something we may as well send it to some other family at the same time. Others were added as it went on.
My brother Pete set off traveling with (now fiance, soon wife!) Lee a couple of years ago. They don't do email but we thought if we set up a website to display our photos they might be able to get onto a computer every now and then to check us out. But how do you 'do' a website. Then Daves wife Sara started a blog here and it looks great so....... here we go.
Don't know how it will go, I doubt if we will post and write heaps, hopefully it just replaces what we were doing with the MFU. Maybe Annie will chip in a bit once we get it figured, or maybe even the kids.
We'll kick off with a shot of Jenna down the beach, just to see what it all looks like. Summer is over but we seem to be settling into Melbourne's Autumn probably my favourite time of year.
