We had a week at a friends holiday house at Mcloughlins beach in the new year, and we had a lovely time fishing, hanging out at the beach and relaxing (thanks Tony & Angie). This shot is from the deck at the rear of the house which was a great spot for sitting in the late afternoon.
There was a great playground just across the road too

Ben is becoming a very keen fisherman. He can be very intense just waiting for a bite which we find quite entertaining to observe. He had a bit of a surprise fishing here one morning when a good size stingray swam past us within a couple of metres. This was a good spot for fishing in the evenings until sunset because the water was quite warm and the kids could alternate between swimming and fishing.
Jenna ends up having a lot of photos taken of her mainly because she is forever striking some sort of pose and saying 'take a photo of me now'
Sand excavations are always popular... This is at Mcloughlins beach which is a 10 minute walk across the footbridge and through the bush. Its a typical ocean beach at the end of the 90 mile beach so it can get a bit heavy for the kids but it was still great for chasing waves etc and was also a bit cooler on the hot days.
Elmo manages to get dragged everywhere, whether it is doing a bit of snorkelling from the bridge (actually I was waiting for something to come up and give it a nibble) or jumping waves or leaping off sand dunes. A bit surprising that it is still in one piece.
Woodside beach is about 15 minutes up the road and has a lifesaving club so we did a fair bit of swimming there. The sand dunes weren't too bad either
In the aftermath of this crash we were able to use the third umpire to determine that Ben and Rachel had bumped the rear of Jenna and Michelle, but the real incriminating evidence was the hands in Jennas back

We stopped at Inverloch on the way back and did the mandatory rock exploring. Note Michelles front teeth finally coming through.

Annemarie has been breaking in the new rod & reel she got for Christmas (a nice Penn 560L for those into it). This photo is also very rare: she is holding a fish with her bare hands.
